A central principle of my teaching is the close integration of research and education: I bring current scientific questions, discoveries, and examples from research into the classroom so students can see how textbook concepts are developed, tested, and applied in the real world. I emphasize active discussion and independent thinking, encouraging students to ask questions, evaluate evidence, and develop their own interpretations rather than passively accept information. I prioritize conceptual understanding over memorization, and frequently connect biological principles to real-world challenges and emerging scientific advances.
