You may earn up to 6 credit hours in independent study as an undergraduate student.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><br \/>\n<\/span><b>Potential Duties<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Running human subjects<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Coordinating appointments<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Entering study data<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">De-identifying data<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Performing literature reviews<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Attending bi-weekly meetings<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Application Requirements<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Must commit to working at least <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">six hours per week<\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Must commit to working a minimum of two consecutive semesters<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Applicants are expected to have a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and be willing to participate in all assigned lab tasks<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Psychology GPA above 3.0\u2014preference given to those with a GPA above 3.5<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Though GPA is extremely important, we believe that a number does not define you, and it will not necessarily disqualify your application<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Preference is given to students who have previously taken and successfully completed Psychology\u00a0Research Methods I &amp; II<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Application Materials<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">If you are interested in working with us, please gather your resume\/CV, include your GPA, your ideal weekly and long-term commitment as well as one paragraph that describes your interests in research and why you are interested in working with our lab.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Submit your application to <\/span><a href=\"mailto:emontana@uncc.edu\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">emontana@uncc.edu<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Volunteer vs. Independent Study Credit As a volunteer, you can gain invaluable professional experience in a clinical and professional research environment.\u00a0 Working for independent study credit can add more value to your volunteer work by getting class credit hours towards your major for working with us in the lab.
