It will be expanded out to the rest of the department later.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"importing-existing-bare-repos\">Importing Existing Bare repos<\/h2>\n<p>To import existing bare repos into GITLAB under a GROUP called TESTGROUP, transfer the files over to the server under the following directory:<\/p>\n<div class=\"line\" style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><span class=\"text plain\"><span class=\"meta paragraph text\">\/var\/opt\/gitlab\/git-data\/repositories\/TESTGROUP<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p>Verify that the git user owns the files so that gitlab rake commands will work. Next run the following command to import the repos.<\/p>\n<div class=\"line\" style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><span class=\"text plain\"><span class=\"meta paragraph text\">gitlab-rake\u00a0gitlab:import:repos<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p>If successful, the repos will now appear in the TESTGROUP in Gitlab.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"backup\">Backup<\/h2>\n<p>Gitlab provides backup functionality by creating a tar file that can be copied elsewhere.<\/p>\n<div class=\"line\" style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><span class=\"text plain\"><span class=\"meta paragraph text\">gitlab-rake\u00a0gitlab:backup:create<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<p>The backup file is created in a directory listed in the gitlab.yml file.
