Faculty/staff computer replacement
The CLAS Office of Academic Technologies handles the distribution of computers to CLAS faculty and staff based on a comprehensive replacement schedule. Full-time faculty and staff members receive a new computer every 4 years. The replacement list is compiled by the CLAS Director of IT with input from department chairs and departmental IT staff. Replaced computers are retrieved, prepared for redistribution, and provided for use by part-time faculty and staff, for research, and for student work.
When a faculty or staff member is due for a new computer, the OAT Director of IT will arrange for a computer to be purchased, configured and delivered. Computers are the property of UNC Charlotte. Faculty and staff separating from the University are not entitled to keep possession of University property.
All faculty and staff who use University-owned computers must abide by the following Information Technology policies:
- #307, Responsible Use of University Computer and Electronic Communications Resources
- #311, Data and Information Security
- #303, Network Security
- #302, World Wide Web
Using Computers at Home
University computers that are approved for use at home need to follow the same guidelines as for computers used on campus.
Using Computers Abroad
Faculty or staff travelling abroad should also complete the UNC Charlotte Export Control Checklist.
