Welcome to Bio-Blink!
Bio-Blink is a collection of animated .gif files I created from open source educational videos to show dynamic biological processes in action. .Gif files are processed as images despite their portrayal as an animation and therefore offer a unique opportunity for application during lecture. These files can simply be copy/pasted into your presentations wherever they apply. The references for each original video file are either watermarked into the background or attached in their description. For citing the .gifs properly you need to cite the original video source as well as the .gif creator.
Each .gif file is processed as an image in powerpoint and creates seamless dynamic animations that can be used with your own customized voiceover during lecture. In a time where people are obsessed with social media, this type of movement breaks up the commonly found wall of text in many presentations and often times reinvigorates student’s attention and focus. Most importantly however, it elucidates exactly how dynamic these processes actually are. Be sure to use a jump drive with enough space when transporting your presentation as these files are slightly larger than images, though much smaller than videos. They also do not require downloading and eliminate the freezing possibility and interruption video files can create.
