Jasen Greco (Ph.D. Geography<\/em><\/strong>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia and raised in Angier, North Carolina, just south of Raleigh. I have lived in North Carolina since I was 5 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n

My interest in severe weather started from a very young age \u2013 mainly when I first learned about tornadoes. Although tornadoes aren\u2019t as common here as they are in other parts of the United States, I would always be on the lookout for any potential tornadoes if there was severe weather nearby. When I was in elementary school, a tornado struck North Raleigh right near where my cousins lived. When we went to visit them right after it happened, I was able to see the destruction that it had caused. This only furthered my interest in severe weather because I thought it was amazing how nature could be so volatile. After that event, I knew for a fact that I wanted to pursue a career in Meteorology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in 2022 with a B.S. in Meteorology, a B.S. in Earth and Environmental Sciences, and a minor in mathematics. I also recently completed my M.S. in Earth Sciences in May 2024. In my junior and senior years of undergrad, I conducted case studies on ten high shear, low CAPE supercell cases in two different regions of the United States. I presented this research at the 2022 UNC Charlotte Undergraduate Research Conference and the 2022 Undergraduate Research Summer Symposium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you ever see me on campus, I will most likely be at the library working on homework or just chilling in between classes. Outside of school I like to read, play the piano, play video games, and spend time with my two cats, Sienna and Teddy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
