His current research is on the international cacao industry and the effects of the Fair Trade movement on small-scale agricultural producers in Latin America and the Caribbean. He has written several articles on Carnival in Trinidad and is the co-editor (with Philip W. Scher) of Trinidad Carnival: The Cultural Politics of a Transnational Festival.
