I am an assistant professor of sociology at UNC Charlotte. I graduated from Kent State University in 2022 with my PhD in Sociology. My other degrees include a Master’s in Sociology from Kent State, and a Bachelor’s in Sociology and in Ethics & Public Policy from the University of Iowa.
My research as a social psychologist revolves around A) the stereotypes people use to mentally rationalize discrimination and hostile antagonism against other groups and B) the self-fulfilling prophecies that result from this. My research uses social psychological theories to understand these issues in the context of various social problems including inequality in work groups, political polarization, and prisoner reentry.
