Jane in Moscow

Read and translate the following text:

Такси́ст: Вот ваш чемода́н и ва́ша су́мка.
Джейн: Спаси́бо. Вот де́ньги. Всё пра́вильно?
Такси́ст: Да, большо́е спаси́бо. Всего́ до́брого.
Джейн: Всего́ до́брого. (The taxi drives away)
(A young girl comes up to Jane.)
Та́ня: Вы Джейн Кларк, да? Меня́ зову́т Таня. Я ва́ша сосе́дка.
Джейн: О́чень прия́тно.
Та́ня: О́чень прия́тно. Это ва́ши ве́щи, да? (She takes Jane’s suitcase points to the nearby building). Э́то на́ше общежи́тие. Вот наш подъе́зд N2. (They enter building).
Джейн: А где на́ша ко́мната?
Та́ня: Сейча́с, сейча́с. Лифт вот здесь. (They enter the elevator and Tanya presses a button). Пя́тый эта́ж. (They get out of the elevator). Вот на́ша ко́мната, N9. Добро́ пожа́ловать!
Джейн: Спаси́бо.

о́чень прия́тно – Nice to meet you. (lit: (It is) very pleasant)
сосе́дка (f.) – neighbor; room mate; сосе́д (m.); сосе́ди (pl.)
вещь (f.) – thing
общежи́тие – dormitory
лифт – elevator
пя́тый эта́ж – 5th floor
Добро́ пожа́ловать! (idiom) – Welcome! (usually said to guests)
Note: “сейча́с” which literally means “now” is often used in answer to somebody’s impatient remarks and in that context means “wait a minute,” or “have some patience.”

Note: The letter “г” in all the Russian endings above (which are m. & n. adjectival genitive case endings) is pronounced as “v“.
