Sam Penry

Education:

M.A. Geography, UNC-Charlotte, Current

B.S. Environmental & Ecological Science, Elon University, 2021

Research Interests:

GIS, Remote Sensing, Urban Land Use, Urban Heat, Climate Change

Profile:

Sam graduated from Elon University where his area of study focused on environmental science, GIS, and biology. After graduating, Sam worked as an ORAU contractor at the US EPA Office of Research and Development, where he was able to apply his knowledge of ecology and GIS to work on projects related to urban nature-based solutions, wildfire effects on well water, and other federal priorities. Sam’s love of the outdoors and desire to protect and learn about the natural environment was formed at a young age when he became involved in the Boy Scouts of America, and went on to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout.
