There are many qualified people with disabilities who have the talent, skills, and ability to perform well if given the opportunity.<\/span><\/div>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<div><strong>Myth #2: Hiring managers are not allowed to ask employees questions about whether they can perform job functions during the hiring process.\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">False! Most accommodations are inexpensive to implement and add value to the workplace.<\/span><\/div>\n<h1><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A recent study from the U.S. Department of Labor of almost 1,200 U.S. employers across a wide range of industry sectors and sizes reported that<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">59% of accommodations cost <\/span><b><i>$0<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The rest cost, on average, <\/span><b>$500. <\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">75% of the employers reported that the accommodations were either \u201cvery effective\u201d or \u201cextremely effective.\u201d<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/askjan.org\/publications\/Topic-Downloads.cfm?pubid=962628\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/askjan.org\/publications\/Topic-Downloads.cfm?pubid=962628<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Also, tax credits and deductions are available for organizations implementing reasonable accommodations!
