
{"id":87,"date":"2019-02-08T11:45:19","date_gmt":"2019-02-08T16:45:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pages.charlotte.edu\/jmontoro\/?p=87"},"modified":"2019-02-08T11:45:19","modified_gmt":"2019-02-08T16:45:19","slug":"meck60-study-needs-assessment-of-older-adults-2017-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pages.charlotte.edu\/jmontoro\/2019\/02\/08\/meck60-study-needs-assessment-of-older-adults-2017-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"MECK60+ Study: Needs Assessment of Older Adults, 2017-2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The unprecedented recent demographic changes including the Baby Boomer generation that begun to retire in 2011 (born 1946 to 1964) pose new challenges not only for individuals and their families but also for communities and society at large. \u00a0As Charlotte and Mecklenburg County experience rapid growth and influx of older adults it is of interest to local-governments, community-based organizations, the private sector and other community members to understand more accurately the health status and the array of programs needed to serve older adults in the community.<\/p>\n<h3>Goals of the Study<\/h3>\n<p>The Needs Assessment Study of older adults has three\u00a0main goals:<\/p>\n<p>1. To\u00a0examine socio-demographic characteristics, health status and service use needs of Caucasians, African Americans and Latinos 60 and older in Charlotte and Mecklenburg County<\/p>\n<p>2.
