Experience the rich world of contemporary films from China, Columbia, Cuba, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Peru, Russia, Spain, Syria, Turkey, and Venezuela at the International Film Festival hosted by the UNC Charlotte Department of Languages and Culture Studies and the Chinese, French, German, Iranian, Nihon, Russian and Spanish student organizations.
The festival and related special events are free and open to the public, and all films are subtitled.
Parking on the main campus, 9201 University City Boulevard
Visitor parking is available for a fee (see information and maps here). Use the Union Deck for screenings at the Student Union, the College of Education (COED), and the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) buildings; Use Cone Deck 1 for screenings at the Belk Gym and at McKnight Hall in the Cone Center.
Parking for weekend screenings at UNC Charlotte Center City Building 320 E. 9th Street
Parking on the UNC Charlotte lots near the Center City building is only for cars with a regular parking permit for Center City and for faculty with a parking permit for the main campus. All other vehicles will be towed.
Options for students and visitors: 1. Park on the streets in First Ward unless prohibited; 2. Park at 7th Street station; 3.There are a limited number of daily parking spots in Preferred Parking-owned lots nearby: Lot locations and daily fee rates.

2. UNC Charlotte’s 41st Annual International Festival
For extra credit bring me a ticket, handout, something you bought, etc., from the event to prove your attendance.
UNC Charlotte International Festival
The 2016 UNC Charlotte International Festival will be held on Saturday, September 24th, 2016. This will mark the 41st year anniversary of this campus tradition.
The International Festival is centered around booths arranged in colorful marketplace style representing the cultures of over 50 nations. The booths are staffed by UNC Charlotte international students and members of Charlotte’s international community and feature art, crafts and costumes from each participating country. Many booths offer international food for sale.
Throughout the day the music and dance of a variety of nations will be presented on indoor and outdoor stages. In addition, the International Festival, which is family-oriented, offers a number of elements such as mimes and face painting designed especially for children.

Everyone from UNC Charlotte, the Charlotte community, and beyond are welcome to join us for the 40 year anniversary of the UNC Charlotte International Festival! To commemorate the success of our longest standing cultural tradition, the festivities will include an evening fireworks display to close the day’s program. For returning attendees, be sure to reference our “Event Schedule” information to note a slight adjustment to some of the cultural dance and parade elements between 10am-6pm as well as the plan for our signature event, including a procession of nations and fireworks display (6pm-7:30pm). For new attendees, please read below to learn about the program.

2. Second Annual Multi-language Poetry Slam
The Department of Languages and Culture Studies is proud to announce its second Multi-language Poetry Slam on October 22nd at 7pm in Cone University Center After Hours. All students and faculty with a passion for poetry and spoken word are invited to participate. We welcome authentic work in English, another language or a mixture of languages. The topic is your choice. In addition to authentic work, we also accept translations of poems by published authors since translation is also a creative act. All work must be submitted by Friday, October 16th. Share your passion for poetry and win cash prizes! For more information and sign-up, please contactmldelgad@uncc.edu.
