Use the Union Deck for screenings at the Student Union, the College of Education (COED), and the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) buildings; Use Cone Deck 1 for screenings at the Belk Gym and at McKnight Hall in the Cone Center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Parking for weekend screenings at UNC Charlotte Center City Building\u00a0320 E. 9th Street<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Parking on the UNC Charlotte lots near the Center City building is only for cars with a regular parking permit for Center City and for faculty with a parking permit for the main campus. All other vehicles will be towed.<\/p>\n<p>Options for students and visitors: 1. Park on the streets in First Ward unless prohibited; 2. UNC Charlotte&#8217;s 41st Annual International Festival<\/h1>\n<p class=\"page-header\">For extra credit bring me a ticket, handout, something you bought, etc., from the event to prove your attendance.<\/p>\n<h3>UNC Charlotte\u00a0International Festival<\/h3>\n<p>The 2016 UNC Charlotte International Festival will be held on Saturday, September 24th, 2016. This will mark the 41st year anniversary of this campus tradition.<\/p>\n<p>The International Festival is centered around booths arranged in colorful marketplace style representing the cultures of over 50 nations. The booths are staffed by UNC\u00a0Charlotte international students and members of Charlotte&#8217;s international community and feature art, crafts and costumes from each participating country. Many booths offer international food for sale.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ifest.uncc.edu\/sites\/ifest.uncc.edu\/files\/media\/ifest_outdoors.jpg\" alt=\"International Festival outdoor photo with attendees and tents in front of the Student Activity Center\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day the music and dance of a variety of nations will be presented on indoor and outdoor stages. In addition, the International Festival, which is family-oriented, offers a number of elements such as mimes and face painting designed especially for children.<\/p>\n<div>In addition to the hallmark elements, the International Festival includes an international games zone for attendees of all ages to participate in and learn about the cultural significance of various games. Participants can learn the rules of bocce, play a game of life-sized chess, or join in a soccer match.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Founded in 1975, the International Festival continues to recognize the region&#8217;s growing diversity. Charlotte, the Charlotte community, and beyond are welcome to join us for the 40 year anniversary of the UNC Charlotte International Festival! To commemorate the success of our longest standing cultural tradition, the festivities will include an evening fireworks display to close the day&#8217;s program. For returning attendees, be sure to reference our &#8220;Event Schedule&#8221; information to note a slight adjustment to some of the cultural dance and parade elements between 10am-6pm as well as the plan for our signature event, including a procession of nations and fireworks display (6pm-7:30pm). For new attendees, please read below to learn about the program.<\/p>\n<p>The International Festival is centered around booths arranged in colorful marketplace style representing the cultures of over 50 nations. The booths are staffed by UNC\u00a0Charlotte international students and members of Charlotte&#8217;s international community and feature art, crafts and costumes from each participating country. Many booths offer international food for sale.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ifest.uncc.edu\/sites\/ifest.uncc.edu\/files\/media\/ifest_outdoors.jpg\" alt=\"International Festival outdoor photo with attendees and tents in front of the Student Activity Center\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Throughout the day the music and dance of a variety of nations will be presented on indoor and outdoor stages. In addition, the International Festival, which is family-oriented, offers a number of elements such as mimes and face painting designed specially for children.<\/p>\n<div>In addition to the hallmark elements, the International Festival includes an international games zone for attendees of all ages to participate in and learn about the cultural significance of various games. Participants can learn the rules of bocce, play a game of life-sized chess, or join in a soccer match.<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Founded in 1975, the International Festival continues to recognize the region&#8217;s growing diversity. All students and faculty with a passion for <span class=\"il\">poetry<\/span> and spoken word are invited to participate.\u00a0We welcome authentic work in English, another language or a mixture of languages. The topic is your choice. In addition to authentic work, we also accept translations of <span class=\"il\">poems<\/span> by published authors since translation is also a creative act.\u00a0All\u00a0work must be\u00a0submitted by Friday, October 16th.\u00a0Share your passion for <span class=\"il\">poetry<\/span> and win cash prizes!
