Check Out Frankenstein at the Public Library<\/b> — The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is celebrating Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein <\/i>during the month of October.\u00a0 This celebration is tied to the library’s Community Read Program, and it includes a wide variety of events and activities, including a presentation by our own Matthew Rowney.\u00a0 Matt will <\/i>give a talk titled “Frankenstein: <\/i>The Making of a Novel in the Year Without a Summer” this comingSaturday, October 8th<\/span><\/span>, at 2 pm<\/span><\/span> at the Main Library.\u00a0 He will give the talk again onSaturday, October 29<\/span><\/span>, at 2 pm<\/span><\/span> at the Myers Park Branch of the library.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Alan Rauch<\/b> recently presented a paper titled “The Private Subscription Library as Intellectual Collective: Sharing Ideas of Science in the Early 19th<\/sup> Century” at the 7th International Conference of the European Society for the History of Science in Prague.<\/p>\n
