She held positions as Professor of Geography at Arizona State University and the Charles La Trobe Professor of Geography at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia prior to coming to UNC Charlotte in 2015.\u00a0 Pat\u2019s research focuses impacts on ancient landscapes associated with the rise of Bronze Age urbanism in the eastern Mediterranean, as well as on environmental and human dimensions of ecosystem dynamics on islands in the South Pacific and the Bahamas.\u00a0 Recent publications have appeared in the <em>Nature Ecology and Evolution<\/em>, <em>Proceeding of the National Academy of Sciences<\/em>, <i>Scientific Reports,<\/i> <em>Radiocarbon<\/em>, <em>Ecology<\/em>, Journal<i> of Archaeological Science<\/i>, <i>Annals of the Association of American Geographers, Journal of Field Archaeology, Applied Geography, <\/i>and <i>Vegetation History and Archaeobotany<\/i><\/p>\n<p><strong>Research &amp; Teaching Interests<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Biogeography<\/li>\n<li>Paleoecology<\/li>\n<li>Human impact on ancient environments<\/li>\n<li>Climatic controls on the distribution of terrestrial plants<\/li>\n<li>Modeling human-environment interactions<\/li>\n<li>Pollen and seed dispersal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Patricia Fall is a Professor in the Department of Geography &amp; Earth Sciences.
