Slut Walk!

August 19, 2019 by Jessamyn Moxie
Categories: Updates

SlutWalk is a transnational movement of protest marches calling for an end to rape culture, including victim blaming and slut shaming of sexual assault victims. Specifically, participants protest against explaining or excusing rape by referring to any aspect of a person’s appearance. It also celebrates the freedom to dress how one wants and sex positivity. This will be our third annual SlutWalk, which marches students around campus and ends outside of the UNC Charlotte Student Union.

Meet us in front of Fretwell on 9/6/19 and we’ll start at noon! Wear whatever you want and feel free to bring a poster if you’d like to raise awareness about this important issue.

Sexuality at UNCC

August 20, 2018 by Jessamyn Moxie
Categories: Updates

As part of Parents’ Weekend, we’ll be holding a dialogue with parents and students about what’s happening on campus around sexuality. We’ll go over current behaviors and statistics, resources, and general issues that college students are likely to experience in the areas of consent, relationships, sexual behaviors, sexual and gender identity, and assault. We’ll leave plenty of time for questions and conversation as well! Come join us!

Now accepting applications for Peer Leader-Educators Advocating for Sexuality Education (PLEASE) Ambassadors!

Due to popular demand, we’re opening up spots for 10 Ambassadors in the PLEASE Program – applications are due 2/5/18. As official membership only opens in August, this will be an opportunity for students to be involved prior to being an official member. Ambassadors will be mentored by PLEASE members, volunteer with upcoming events, and participate in sexuality discussions. Ambassadors would be expected to attend meetings twice monthly (Fridays 9:30a-11a) and assist with ongoing events.

We would love to have you be a part of the program! Ambassadors will be well-positioned to become official members upon acceptance in the fall.

Requirements include: Must have at least one more full year at UNCC (if graduating in 2018, you are ineligible), demonstrate a commitment to health (broadly defined), be available for Friday meetings, demonstrate a passion for sexuality.

The PLEASE Program encourages sexuality dialogues and safer sexual health practices on campus. The Program has established a safer sex station located on the 2nd floor of CHHS, conducts an annual sexuality climate survey at CHHS, hosts small group discussions, and hosts educational events around sexuality topics.
