Tim Eldred  receives 1^st place award for his oral presentation “Synthesis and Characterization of Novel Nanostructures for Water Purification” UNC Charlotte Undergraduate Conference Friday, April 21^st, 2016 UNC Charlotte in the Physical, Computer and Engineering  symposium.

Congratulations to Emily Schmidt for winning the American Chemical Society’s Division of Analytical Chemistry Undergraduate Award given to the best undergraduate student in analytical chemistry at UNC Charlotte for the 2014-2015 academic year.  I can’t wait to see all the great things she does in the future!

I am so proud of these research students. They all presented at the UNC Charlotte Undergraduate Research Conference and did great. Tim, Chauncey and Emily all presented posters. Emily Schmidt won 2nd place for sustainability. James Mitchell gave a talk, won the best presentation in Chemistry and won the Atkins award for the Physical Sciences.

James Mitchell has received an honorable mention for his poster “Utilizing Hybrid Nano-Composite Materials to Increase Specific Capacitance for Supercapacitor Applications” at the 2014 UNC Charlotte Summer Research Scholars Symposium.  The only student in Chemistry to be recognized with an award.  Way to go James!

Dr. Jeff Alston has received an NRC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship.  These are very prestigious, and competitive awards.  Way to go Jeff, good luck on your research and future successes.

Congratulations to James Mitchell who received the 2014 Hendley Scholarship ($500 award) for his work on metal oxide nanoparticle synthesis and characterization.

Congratulations to all the UNC Charlotte Chemistry Graduates of 2014. A special pat on the back to our own Dylan Brokaw who graduated with departmental honors and will be attending UNC Chapel Hill for his MD degree this Fall.
