Mr. James Black was born on May 25, 1942 in Charlotte, NC. He moved from the Brooklyn neighborhood in downtown Charlotte to Southside on March 3, 1951. He currently resides in a house located behind the Revolution Park golf course. Mr. Black speaks on the art of playing golf, and how self-identity is integral in athletics and in life. He emphasizes the importance in giving back to the community and in teaching children the tools to be successful in life. His philosophical and spiritual point of view provides a candid and refreshing outlook on his experiences with racial tension while playing golf, his exposure to golf at a young age, and growing up in segregated Charlotte.
