Walker, Grady

Grady Walker was born in 1957 and moved to Revolution Park in 1968 at the age of 11 from the South Side neighborhood. He lived with his parents in a two bedroom house and has spent much of his life in the house. As a child in Revolution Park, Mr. Walker recounts summers spent at the pool, rumors of a haunted golf course, and playing neighborhood games with the other children. His father frequented the golf course, and Mr. Walker and the other children would play on the course after hours and engage in neighborhood rivalry skirmishes. During high school, Mr. Walker was bused to many different schools and graduated from Olympic High. Until his retirement a few years ago, Mr. Walker worked as a barber in the Charlotte. Mr. Walker continues to live in Revolution Park and is a member of the neighborhood association.
