Shreya Patel, a high school student working with our research group, for being named a Regional Finalist in the prestigious 2015 Siemens Competition in Math, Science, and Technology.\u00a0 Her research project focused on developing electrochromic devices that rely on hexacoordinate silicon.\u00a0 Electrochromic materials change color upon application of an electrical field.\u00a0 Shreya made the first working prototype of an electrochromic window that could go from colorless to different colors depending on the silicon dye that is incorporated.\u00a0 Shreya started high school at Lake Norman Charter School in Huntersville, NC and is currently a Senior at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics.\u00a0 Check out <a N. Fries Magnet Middle with two students from the Ph.D. Program in Nanoscale Science, Dawn Marin and Marissa Styron.\u00a0 The 150 6th graders built working dye sensitized solar cells and went outside to test them.\u00a0 Everyone&#8217;s cell was successful.\u00a0 Go, Knights!\n\nThank you Kathleen Epperson (J.N.
