She teaches undergraduate classes such as Communication Foundations, Principles of Public Relations, Public Relations Ethics, Public Relations Writing, and Personal Branding and Social Media Management. She also teaches Public Relations Theory to graduate students. One of her favorite teaching quotes is, \u201cThe mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be ignited\u201d by Plutarch.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gallicano received her master\u2019s and doctoral degrees from the University of Maryland and worked at the University of Oregon for nine years as an assistant professor and then as an associate professor, where she won the Jonathan Marshall Award for Innovative Teaching from the School of Journalism and Communication.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She has professional public relations experience in nonprofit organizations, political campaigns and public relations agencies. She is a past head of the PR Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). In addition, she is a past chair of the nationally elected Standing Committee on Teaching and former Board of Directors member for AEJMC.<\/p>\n<p>In her research role, she has authored and co-authored 26 refereed journal articles in the areas of relationship management, social media, ethics and pedagogy. She has won nine awards for her scholarship.
