Our current research projects are being funded by The Alfred P. Sloan Research Foundation Grants#: 2024-25163 and Grant #: 2023-19607. These grants fund three years of research including: studying remote scientific teams who work over Zoom, research collaboration on Gather, and research collaboration using intensive media (e.g., Meta VR). We are also completing an experimental study examining the effects of similarity perceptions on entitativity and group productivity.
Specific Research Questions we are answering include:
- How do similarity perceptions affect the development of entitativity in new and established groups?
- How does meeting effectiveness–as a dynamic experience–affect entitativity as a stable perception?
- How do objective behavioral patterns in virtual groups affect entitativity and group effectiveness?
- How does virtual team participation change when one member does not use their video?
- How does entitativity mitigate surface acting in meetings?
- How does entitativity affect creativity and performance in online teams?
