Sarah Lovin’s experience creating Visual Rhetoric

April 22, 2014 by Sarah Lovin
Categories: Updates

My work for this site has taught me a lot. I have learned how to use word press, which is no small feat (Thank you, Racheal Winterling!).

On my first two projects I worked with a partner, Shawn Simmons. Together we created the webpages “The War on Poverty” and “The Crimean Status Referendum Billboards.”

I created the third and final project individually. “The Crimean War as photographed by Roger Fenton” grew organically from the first two projects I created with Shawn, blending photo-documentation with my interest the Crimean Peninsula.

Overall, I am thankful for the chance to be part of creating Visual Rhetoric with Dr. Gregory Wickliff, and I am excited about the things I have learned. I have explored the history of the Crimean Peninsula, Lyndon B Johnson’s idealistic attempt to eliminate poverty in America, and the birth of the wartime photo-journalist.
