I am a first year graduate student here at UNCC. I concluded my undergraduate studies at Pfeiffer University in the spring of 2013 and have lived in Frog Pond, NC for the majority of my life. The art of persuasion has always intrigued me. The science behind argumentative structure may sound like an extreme bore, but is an integral component of our everyday lives. Though it may appear to be a paradox, collaboration is possible through rhetoric. Differing ideas are natural and should be freely expressed; however, this lack of concord can only be made sensible if proper rhetoric is applied. Common reason also derives from rhetoric. The way we make sense of this world (prerogative) requires the application of rhetoric. To reason, we must consider. Whatever choice we make in any given situation is unlikely arbitrary. We use the visual information or visual rhetoric to decide on a particular action or choice. This information persuades us to embark upon this particular action. We are persuaded everyday to do something (consciously or subconsciously). My goal is to ascertain a concrete understanding of this intriguing field. This is the incentive of my graduate endeavor.

My work on this site is a compilation of visual images, elaborate explications and, of course, rhetorical impressions of renowned photographers as well as other visual artists/innovators of rhetoric. From the works of the intrepid Larry Burrows to the incredible, contentious actions of cinematic innovators, these projects reveal the history and motives behind such pivotal applications of visual rhetoric on a global scale.
