
{"id":46,"date":"2012-11-30T21:23:52","date_gmt":"2012-11-30T21:23:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pages.charlotte.edu\/walter-research-group\/?page_id=46"},"modified":"2019-11-16T01:23:00","modified_gmt":"2019-11-16T01:23:00","slug":"outreach","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/pages.charlotte.edu\/walter-research-group\/outreach\/","title":{"rendered":"Outreach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: large\">Next Big Thing! &#8211; <a href=\"http:\/\/polymer-education-kit.weebly.com\/\">Outreach Program &#8211; <\/a><\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: medium\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/polymer-education-kit.weebly.com\/\">Polymer Semiconductor Education Kit<\/a>: <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: large\">The new outreach kit will provide activities about the synthesis, physics, and applications of conjugated polymeric semiconductors. The kit will introduce the synthesis of electrically conductive plastics, polymer light-emitting diodes, and polymer solar cells. The activities will get students involved in solar energy and energy efficiency and will be built <strong>with inquiry-based learning around students\u2019 questions<\/strong>. <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: large\"> The overarching goal of the project is to expose students to the latest molecular materials technologies and applications, which have rapidly advanced in the past 10-20 years. These activities engage students in chemistry, biology, and physics classrooms with activities that overlap into each discipline. It was a lot of fun and thank goodness the Walter group could help out with the construction and testing!
