Beth A. Rubin is Professor Emerita of Sociology. She has served UNC Charlotte since 2002 when she joined as an Associate Professor of Management in the Belk College of Business where she was promoted to Professor in 2005. In 2004, Rubin took a leave of absence from UNC Charlotte and served as Sociology Program Director at the National Science Foundation from 2004-2006 (she was later asked to return in that same capacity from 2015-2016). On returning to UNC Charlotte, Rubin served for a year as Director of Research in the Belk College of Business from 2006-2007. During that time she also worked with an interdisciplinary group of faculty to help create and start the PhD in Organizational Sociology. In 2007, Rubin moved to the Sociology Department where she served as Professor. Rubin was the Director of Graduate Studies from 2008-2009. From 2012-2015 Rubin directed the PhD in Public Policy Program. In 2012 Rubin was nominated for and accepted into the major honor association for Sociology, the Sociological Research Association. That same year she served as President of the Southern Sociological Society and in 2017 she was named Professor Emerita at UNC Charlotte from which she retired. She now lives in Ashland Oregon.
