Brittany is a former Texas elementary educator, who received her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Baylor University, Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Texas, and Ph.D. from the University of Georgia in Educational Psychology, Gifted and Creative Education. Brittany’s research focuses on pre-service and in-service teacher development in relation to the talent development and talent identification of minoritized youth. Brittany’s research also centers on the lived experiences of gifted Black girls and women, with an emphasis on their academic and social-emotional needs. For the past several years, Brittany has been involved in the professional learning of in-service teachers in urban schools, focused on cultural humility, anti-racist and culturally responsive teaching, and gifted education. Brittany was the 2017 recipient of National Association of Gifted Children (NAGC) Doctoral Award.
