Deborah Beete is a Lecturer in Public Health Sciences. She teaches in both of the department’s undergraduate programs, Public Health and Health Systems Management (HSMT). She also serves as an advisor in HSMT. Beete began her career in public health on a research project that developed an HIV prevention intervention for African American women in 1995 and has worked in that field for most of her career. She spent more than 20 years working with local government and not-for-profits on program development and implementation, evaluation, and grant writing. Her specific interests include public health pedagogy, public health practice, HIV/AIDS prevention and care, and other topics in sexual health/sexuality. She is currently engaged in exploring how active learning and ePorfolio can enhance student learning in public health.
