Anti-reflective structured surfaces (ARSS) are sub-wavelength nano-textures plasma etched directly into the surface of an optical window or substrate. Unlike AR thin film coatings, ARSS has a much higher laser damage threshold because the gradient refractive index is made in the material itself. ARSS has been developed and tested in a variety of materials for specific and/or broad wavelength regions including: fused silica, silicon, sapphire, spinel, and B270.
