Recently completed funded projects.

  • Evaluation of the Mecklenburg County Smoke Free ordinance encompassed parks and worksite.
  • The Keeping RNs to Improve and Strengthen Population Health (KRISP) project, funded by HRSA, BHPr, addresses the shortage of public health nurses..
  • The Best Practices to Preserve MCAH Performance in Local Health Departments: Learning from the Economic Downturn is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The project aims to develop best practices for preserving services and programs to meet the needs of pregnant women, infants, children and adolescents.
  • Served as the faculty mentor to Dr. Joshua Vest, under the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Public Health Services and Systems Research Dissertation and Junior Faculty Award. They completed a research project, Effective Public Health Data Sharing for Local Decision Making, which has implications for monitoring immunization status of children.

  • 2012 invited presentation in Italy at the Associazione Italiana di Economia Sanitaria (AIES), Annual Conference on the topic of American Health Care Reform: Implications for Health Care Management, Health Policy and Health Economics,
  • 2013 keynote presentation Management Approaches to Advancing the Practice of Public Health Nurses at the 3rd International Public Health Nursing Conference in Galway, Ireland.
