I am a PhD candidate in Finance at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where I study the intersection of political economy, behavioral finance, and real estate markets. My research investigates how political identity, partisanship, and spatial dynamics shape economic behavior, particularly in high-stakes decisions such as housing transactions, asset pricing, and analyst forecasts.

My job market paper, Political Alignment and Housing Transactions, links voter registration and housing transaction data to show that individuals aligned with the U.S. president are more likely to buy and sell homes, perceiving lower uncertainty and accelerating costly investment decisions. These politically motivated transactions increase supply in aligned neighborhoods, leading to lower equilibrium prices and longer time on the market. This paper contributes to the literature on political polarization and finance by documenting how household partisanship affects market outcomes.

I have also published When the Train Never Comes in The Professional Geographer, co-authored with Isabelle Nilsson and Elizabeth C. Delmelle. The paper examines the Durham–Orange Light Rail project and finds no evidence of property value effects from either the project’s announcement or cancellation. Instead, appreciation occurred in dense urban neighborhoods, suggesting that infrastructure announcements often coincide with, rather than drive, urban growth. Additional projects explore how partisan affiliation influences sell-side analyst forecasts and how political identity affects institutional participation in ESG and green energy investments.

In addition to my research, I have extensive teaching experience as Instructor of Record for multiple undergraduate finance and real estate courses, including Investments, Real Estate Finance, and Financial Management. My teaching has been recognized across the university. I was named a finalist for the Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Award in 2025, featured in UNC Charlotte’s Niner Times article “Rated and Respected” on student impact, and identified by 23 graduating seniors in the UNC Charlotte Senior Survey between 2022 and 2024 as the “most significant, positive contribution to their education.”

I hold four master’s degrees in Architecture, Urban Design, Real Estate, and Business Administration as well as a graduate certificate in Public Policy Research and Analysis. My undergraduate studies in music were supported by thirteen scholarships, including three concurrent full-ride awards.

My research has been supported by multiple fellowships and grants, including the Joanna R. Baker Memorial Graduate Fellowship, the Graduate School Teaching Fellowship (2022–2023), and the Graduate Scholarship from Friends of UNC Charlotte (2022–2023). My work has been recognized outside academia as well, with coverage in The Wall Street Journal in 2024. I am a member of the Finance Management Association and remain actively engaged in public service, including serving on Charlotte’s Alternative Compliance Review Board and as Marketing Chair for the Alumni of the Center for Real Estate.

Through my scholarship and teaching, I aim to advance empirical asset pricing and real estate finance by incorporating behavioral and political economy perspectives, while mentoring the next generation of finance professionals and scholars.
