Madison Preib is a Project Coordinator for the Office of Research in the College of Health and Human Services at UNC Charlotte. She works directly with research faculty in the College through project management, serving as the operational contact person, budget management, supervision of staff and graduate research assistants, scheduling, training, data collection and management, compliance with human subjects research and data security, along with preliminary assistance in the preparation of required reports.
During her undergraduate career at Virginia Tech, Madison was heavily involved in an interdisciplinary research program aimed at collaboration between science and engineering disciplines which sparked her interest in healthcare research. As a Nutrition Science major, Madison worked in biomedical and mechanical engineering labs lending her understanding of human anatomy to improve vocal-fold function in paralyzed stroke victims.
After completing a B.S. in Nutrition, Madison went on to earn a Master of Public Health degree in Epidemiology from The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. While in graduate school, she worked for the NC Telemedicine Network as a retinal photographer and diabetes educator helping to improve access to ophthalmology care for underserved populations. Madison previously worked for the Center for Health Disparities at ECU as a research assistant where she completed a pilot study aimed at improving health and nutrition literacy of at-risk pregnant women in eastern NC. Madison is excited to continue to pursue her enthusiasm for improving population health as a Forty-Niner.
