Dr. Aleksandr Smirnov received the Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, in 2011. He subsequently did a postdoc in Dr. Xiuxia Du’s lab at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Dr. Aleksandr Smirnov’s research interests are in Metabolomics, with a focus on developing new algorithms and software tools for processing raw untargeted Mass Spectrometry data. He has made contributions to multiple software tools for pre-processing raw MS-data, tracking and prioritization of unknown compounds, and visualization of food/compound/pathway/disease relationships. In 2021, he received the Mark P. Styczynski Early Career Award in Computational Metabolomics.
