Nancy Bishop is a lecturer in the Department of Art & Art History. She earned her doctorate in medieval art history from the University of Iowa. Her work has probed the role that belief systems, superstitions, and syncretism play in the visual arts with particular emphasis on depictions of the other. She moved to Charlotte from Washington State but she has lived in many places, including Japan.
