Dr. Rebekah Rogers studies evolution of genome structure mutations and new gene formation. Dr. Rogers did her undergrad in the Department of Genetics at the University of Georgia. She received her PhD in Biology from Harvard University in 2011. She did her postdoctoral research at UC Irvine and UC Berkeley. She joined the faculty at UNCC in 2017.
The Rogers lab works on population genomics of genome structure mutations in Drosophila and other organisms. We are creating a population genomic panel to study complex mutations, such as duplications, deletions, and chromosomal rearrangements and their contribution to local adaptation in Drosophila yakuba.
