Goals for the Course: My purpose in this class is to introduce you to some of the best Spanish-language poems of all time and to provide you with a roadmap for tracing the historical development of Hispanic poetry from its beginnings to the late 20th Century. I also hope to instill in you an appreciation for poetry in general, while at the same time guiding you toward a greater understanding of some of the finer points of the Spanish language, as seen in the poems under consideration.
