Dr. Whaley did his undergraduate work at East Carolina University in Biology before coming to UNCC for graduate school where he worked with Dr. Schlueter. His graduate and postdoctoral research was focused on plant genomics and transcriptomics. He joined the faculty in 2018 as an assistant teaching professor.
