This week is your final Weekly Discussion Post #14
This last Canvas discussion post (#14) will be 40 points instead of 20, which should provide a nice boost. That way, we’ll still have the weekly discussion posts worth a total of 300 points for the semester.
Finishing Frankenstein
Our goal for today is to finish Frankenstein and watch the two clips from the 1994 film adaptation Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. Personally, I like the film, but I could see how it’s perhaps a bit overly dramatic and over acted in places. If you can find the entire film, it might help to watch it, but it won’t replace reading the novel. Remember, I’ll ask questions to see if you were reading…
Our class’s Canvas homepage has a link to “Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein Video Clips” under the Film Clips for Class heading. There are only two clips this time–one about 7 min long and the other just over 13 min long. I also have some discussion to guide your watching.
Next Class
For next class (11/30) and the following one (12/05)–our last class–we’ll be discussing video games!!! I’ll debunk the myth that playing violent video games (or consuming violent media) leads to enacting real world violence.
On Wednesday, December 7th, we won’t have any reading notes, but I hope to have a meeting with the Director of Accademia Italiana Salerno on Zoom for students interested in the Summer Study Abroad Program I’ll be leading in Salerno, Italy. Italy is six hours ahead of us, so want to make sure we don’t have the meeting too late in the day for the Director.
