Cristiane (Cris) Surbeck is an associate professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Mississippi. She holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Irvine. She worked in environmental consulting for seven years and is a licensed Processional Engineer in California and Mississippi. Her areas of expertise include characterization of pollutants in surface waters and remediation of soil and groundwater. She is past-chair of the Sustainability Committee of the Environmental and Water Resources Institute (EWRI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Recent accomplishments include leading student and faculty teams on Engineers Without Borders trips to Togo and obtaining her Envision Sustainability Professional credential.
